Mummy's attempt to be inventive backfires ...

The other day while James was at pre-school I thought I'd try something different with Bekah. I got out some dried pasta, beans, and other random ingredients from the kitchen and took them into the play house to do some "cooking" .... Bekah just looked at me like I was completely insane and got bored very quickly ... *sigh* Oh well, you win some, you lose some ...

It wasn't long before she was looking wistfully out the window and pointing to the ball which looked much more fun!

"Help! I'm being held captive by a mad mummy!!!"

Bekah hopes the toy spoon can double as a phone ...

Then she decided to stage a protest ... by clambering up on the chair ...

would you argue?!?! ;0)

"YEY!!! I've escaped and I've got the ball!!!"

Our little girl loves kicking the football around ... I think she's going to be a pro!

James has taken to calling her "The Beck" lately ... maybe that's after David Beckham?! Wonder if that makes James "The Posh" ..... ;0)

The Beck in action ...

It is surprisingly tricky trying to get a photo of a toddler kicking a ball ...
(Guess I should try video next time ...)

Library and Picnic outing ...

We went to the library on Friday and spontaneously Mummy decided to buy some sandwiches at the shop and have a picnic on the way back. Another fun little excursion.

Walking back from the library

James was exploring with his magnifying glass and Bekah discovered James' cap in the pushchair basket and so just looked like a little hooligan! ;0)

Flower girl ...

Bekah was quite intent on picking the dandelion flowers ... she was very determined and was very successful at pulling the heads off ...

My best attempt at a cute sibling photo ...

[James told me he was sunbathing ...]

Wellies!

We got Bekah her first pair of wellies recently ... (The weather has been a bit changeable here the last few weeks) They're still a bit big but she looked so cute stomping around in them ... I think they hampered her walking efforts a bit though ...

"Blow this! I'm going back to all fours ..."

"Want to come over to our house?"

"Dinner's ready!"

Mummy and James Day!

Last Thursday I was on the parent rota for James' preschool which meant I got to go and help out for the afternoon. I asked Auntie Sarah if she would look after Bekah for me and she kindly offered to have her for the whole day so I could spend some quality time with James.

It was a really brilliant (but exhausting!) day. We did lots of fun, messy stuff in the morning, had lunch in an indoor tent and then had a great afternoon at preschool. I was really proud of James and came away feeling very encouraged. He drives me crazy more often than I ever would have anticipated but I LOVE MY LITTLE BOY SOOOO MUCH and really enjoyed the day!

Tennis ball painting ...

The idea with this was to cover the tennis ball in paint and bounce it on the paper to make splats ... I thought James would LOVE this concept.

We did it once and he sort of smiled so I said "Shall we do it again?!?!" ....

His response? "No, thank you. Can I have a paint brush now please?"

..... KIDS!!! ;0) But I did it once more anyway and then he got really into it and loved it. ;0)

I think this might be one of my new favourite photos ...

One of our masterpieces hanging on the washing line to dry ...

I only got one photo before we were both completely covered in paint! We did finger, hand painting, feet painting, painting stones and rolling them around, sponge painting ... it was very messy! ;0)

Time for a hose down ...

I think James enjoyed this part most. We got the hose out and just got totally soaked ... serving two purposes ... 1) getting the paint off AND 2) getting lots of giggles!

I know I'm biased but I love the smiles! ;0)

You know it's been a good day when you have paint on your nappy/diaper ... ;0)

[For those who might be wondering ... Mummy DIDN'T get paint on her under garments ... ;0) ]

My little boy looking very grown-up (despite the purple paint on the face...)

Going MAD with Kezia, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Tris

Last week we went to a soft play place with Kezia, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Tris as they were still on their holidays. We'd not been to this particular one before and so Kezia could show us the ropes. Plus having Auntie Sarah AND Uncle Tris there meant it was 1 on 1 when it came to the kid to adult ratio!!! I really appreciated the extra help. Thank you!!

On the BIG slide with Auntie Sarah and Uncle Tris

Everyone got to have a go on this one - even Kezia and Bekah. Kezia even managed to do an amazing flip half way down ... she started facing forwards and ended up facing backwards ... we're still not quite sure how she did it! ;0) It was very clever anyway!

Now Bekah can explore too ...

It's the first time we've been to a soft play place since Bekah has been really walking and so it was good to see her explore.

Kezia at the top of one of the slides ....

And Bekah at the bottom!

In the ball pit ...

Although Bekah normally loves balls she was a little overwhelmed by the ball pit .... Can't say I blame her. Kezia and James LOVE it!! I know it looks like James is suffocating Kezia here but he wasn't ... honest!! For the most part he did really well.

James and Kezia having a cuddle ... We had a fun outing!

Good Girl!!

The other day Bekah was helping Grandma tidy up some toys and every time she put a toy in the basket Grandma said "Good girl!" ... Bekah quickly caught on and now whenever she puts anything in a basket/box (whether or not it should go in!) she congratulates herself with a "good girl!" Funny little thing!

What car?!?!

I never expected to learn so much about cars from my 2 year old son ... When we were at the Doctors the other day James found a car magazine and happily spent our waiting time looking at all the cars! So a few days later I bought him his very own car magazine and have not been disappointed with it's ability to entertain and amuse our car crazy boy! ;0)

Gatecrashing Team Browning's Holiday in Highcliffe!

Auntie Sarah, Uncle Tris and Kezia were on holiday last week at Highcliffe (on the south coast) and on Saturday (4th July) Grandma and Grandad were going to pick them up. Since it's only about an hour and a half away we decided to gatecrash too. We had a really fun day out at the seaside!

First stop - Highcliffe Castle!

(You can't really see it in this picture but you could see the sea just above the hedge here)

James loved running around the little maze outside ... and Daddy had to join in too!

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a traditional English cream tea at a castle?!?! ;0)

Cream Tea = Pot of tea, scone (in this case warm!) with strawberry jam and clotted cream - YUMMY!!! Not sure why Americans wanted independence from this ..... ;0)

Grandad and Bekah on the beach

Grandad and Bekah on the beach

Bekah was not too sure about the slimey green stuff Grandad called seaweed ...

Reminds me of a joke ... why did the sea blush? Because the sea weed ..... Sorry ........ ;0)

Kezia, on the other hand LOVED it!!! She thought it was so funny and had spent all week thinking the same!

Daddy gives a "Sand Castle Building For Beginners" class ...

Oh, the concentration!
