We went on a Jenny Car instead ...
The 30 minute round-trip sounded more toddler-attention-span-friendly than the 60 minute steam train ride ... ;0) We also had the car to ourself. The Jenny Car was powered by a Ford Model A engine (for those who might be interested .....)
